Piedmont Local News publishes local news and community information for Prince Edward County, Nottoway County and Lynchburg, Virginia. This policy describes information used to operate this website. Last updated November 7, 2026.

Website delivery and security

Our website is hosted through OpenAI Sites using Cloudflare infrastructure. These providers may process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details and request logs, to deliver the website, maintain reliability and prevent misuse. Their processing is also subject to their own privacy policies.

Article view counts

We store an aggregate count of article page loads. Repeat visits and reloads may count again, so these totals are not counts of unique readers. The view counter does not set cookies or store visitor IP addresses, browsing profiles or visitor identifiers. Signed-in publisher visits, draft previews and recognized automated requests are excluded. These totals are visible only in the private newsroom dashboard.

Email and news tips

If you email piedmontlocalnews@gmail.com, your message may include your email address, name, attachments and any details you choose to share. We use this information to review tips, investigate stories, respond to questions or corrections, and maintain editorial correspondence. Email is handled through Gmail. Avoid sending unnecessary sensitive personal information. Correspondence is retained as needed for these purposes and relevant recordkeeping.

Publisher sign-in

The newsroom editor uses ChatGPT sign-in to restrict access to authorized publishing tools. Authentication may use cookies or other session information managed by the sign-in provider. Article drafts and uploaded photographs are stored in the hosting infrastructure. Ordinary readers do not need to sign in to read published articles.

Advertising and analytics

Google AdSense and other advertising code are not currently enabled. We do not currently use third-party analytics scripts. If advertising or additional analytics are introduced, we will update this policy to explain the providers, information involved and applicable privacy choices before enabling those features.

Facebook, sharing and external links

Our Facebook links, article sharing tools and source links may take you to other services. Those services operate under their own privacy policies. Copying an article link uses your browser clipboard when you select that option. We do not embed a Facebook tracking pixel or social feed on this site.
